- Unión del Barrio (UdB) - UdB was founded in 1981 in San Diego, Califas. Its founders previously had a decade of involvement in the Chicano Movement -within organizations such as the Brown Berets, La Raza Unida Party, MAPA, the Chicano Pinto Union, MEChA, the United Farmworkers, the Chicano Federation, the Chicano Park Steering Committee, and the Committee on Chicano Rights. In 1993, the Union decided to move forward from a local organization based in the San Diego area, towards a national liberation organization. UdB has been one of the most active and principled organizations dedicated to winning the self-determination and liberation of la raza - on both sides of the political border.
