- Kahlo, Frida - Great Mexican artist/painter and fighter for rights of all people, she lived and worked in Mexico from 1907 to 1954.

- Kai-Shek, Chiang - 1886 - 1975. A corrupt anti-communist general during WWII, he first fought against the Japanese occupation of China. When the Chinese communists, under the leadership of Mao Tse-Tung, defeated Chiang Kai-Shek and his troops, they left mainland China for Taiwan, and declared the tiny island the real "Republic of China". He was then the first president of the "Republic of China", 1950-75.

- Kamikaze - The name given to Japanese pilots that flew planes packed with explosives, dedicated to suicide attacks in WWII.

- Kenya - A republic in East Africa. A member of the commonwealth of nations, and formerly a British crown colony and protectorate. 22,800,000; 223,478 sq. miles. Capital: Nairobi.

Keynesianism - An economic theory based on the ideas of British economist John Maynard Keynes, that advocate a mixed economy - predominantly private sector, but with a large role of government and public sector.

- King, Martin Luther - 1929-1968, Black American clergyman and Nobel prize winner who led the civil rights movement in the United States during much of the 1950's and 1960's. He was born in Atlanta GA., on Jan. 15, 1929, the son and grandson of baptist ministers. Famous for his "I have a dream" speech.

- Korean War - The war (1950 to 1953) between North Korean, backed up by communist China, and South Korean, backed up by the United States. This was one of the most serious armed conflicts of the Cold War.

- Knowledge - The fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through lived experience or association with it.
